One of the crew is Henri, our lab technician and cellar hand 🍇🧪🥼🍷
Henri has a degree in viticulture and winemaking, experience working in a variety of vineyard sites and has completed five vintages in New Zealand and the USA.
Starting her career focusing on viticulture, it only took Henri one vintage in the winery to find her love for cellar work and the process of making wine. Henri’s industry experience ranges from working in viticulture covering a wide range of vineyard sites, to cellar work and now, as a lab technician for us at Summerhouse Wine Co. Henri and the team manage the sampling, trials and analysis for our fermentations and wines.
Henri will compete in the New Zealand Young Winemaker Competition this week. Entrants will tackle a wide range of tests as they vie for the prestigious trophy. These challenges touch on all aspects of being a successful winemaker. These include laboratory skills, wine tasting, blending, industry knowledge, cellar skills, public speaking and a sales pitch. 👏
