NIWA Annual Climate Summary for 2024 has been released with Marlborough taking out New Zealand’s sunniest region at 2,769 hours! ☀️

2024 Vintage

Yes, 2024 was a hot one and we now have the title to prove it!

No matter the season, our vines are working hard on our vineyards just over the hill. Thanks to our region’s long sunshine hours, the grapes have a longer ripening period, making our wines burst with that fruit-forward character Marlborough is known for. A bonus for this vineyard is the cool breeze from the ocean, which keeps everything fresh!

In 2024, fewer grapes were on the vines, which meant lots of leafy canopies, no disease, and a rapid ripening period. This meant our harvest started ten days earlier than normal. The ideal conditions allowed us to pick our grapes when perfectly ripe, while the cooler evenings preserved the trademark Marlborough freshness and acidity.
